The Loss Prevention Certification Board has certified Firetrace’s direct low pressure NOVEC 1230 system for the new LPCB Standard LPS1666.  The new standard was developed to verify the performance of direct pneumatic tube based suppression systems and to confirm to potential customers that they are manufactured by an ISO 9001: 2015 approved manufacturer.

What is the Loss Prevention Certification Board?

The Loss Prevention Certification Board is the leading international Certification Body in the fields of security and fire protection. LPCB approval is recognised by governments and regulatory authorities across the world, particularly in Europe, Asia-Pacific, and the Middle East.

LPS1666 and Firetrace

The Loss Prevention Standard 1666 applies to direct low pressure application fixed fire suppression systems, using heat sensitive pneumatic tubing, designed for the protection of small unoccupied defined volume enclosures such as electrical switchgear cabinets, server racking and similar installations from small local flaming fire sources. These systems are not intended for use as whole room or building fire protection systems.

Being the first UK valve manufactured fire suppression systems to comply with the standard, we proved our fire suppression system to extinguish fires in small enclosures in the electrical industry using our pneumatic trace detection tubing.

Novec 1230 is a non-conductive extinguishant, which does not damage electrical components or leave a residue. From the 3M company, Novec 1230 is both non-toxic and the most environmentally friendly agent currently available.
